Wonderful depiction Howard. The troops have a nearly Cubist sense about them. As always nice work.

a powerful painting and you were able to keep a sense of the immediacy or spontanaity a sketch has to it which offers a sense of action most appropiate for this subject. I feel that even folks who never left the states or saw action will feel it. Though I don't really know - I was just after you, in country during 67-68 attached tdy to a lot of different situations short term though nothing like what you cats had to do. I shall keep looking around your site.

I was inspired to do this painting after learning of Specialist Jose Valez's valiant and courageous sacrifice when he subjected himself to enemy fire while defending and protecting the lives of his wounded team members. Specialist Valez was mortally wounded in action and was posthumously awarded the Silver Medal for his bravery and dedication to duty in the battle for Fallujah, Iraq 2004.
